Welcome in. This is the members' room of The Long Field: a place to ask questions, share what you're growing, cooking and reading, and argue (kindly) about the things I write.

A few house rules. Be generous with people who know less than you. Name your sources when you share numbers. No selling, unless it's seed and it's free. Ruth Achterberg moderates with me and has the final word.

I read every thread on Monday and Thursday mornings and answer the ones tagged Ask Mara first. If you're new, say hello below and tell us where you're writing from.
